“What surprised you about your baby today?”
She took her first steps today! Three wobbly ones before plopping down on her bottom. We all cheered like it was the Olympics. The look of surprise on her face was priceless — I don't think she realized what she'd done until we started clapping.
“What song or sound calms your baby?”
This lullaby version of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' works every single time. The moment it starts playing, her eyes get heavy and she snuggles in closer. It's become our bedtime ritual.
“How are YOU doing today, really?”
Exhausted but grateful. Three hours of sleep feels like a lot now — funny how standards change. Caught myself crying happy tears watching her sleep. The tiredness is real but so is the overwhelming love.
“What did your partner do that made parenting easier today?”
He took the 3am feeding without being asked. Just whispered 'go back to sleep' and handled everything. Woke up to a fed, changed, happy baby and a cup of coffee waiting. These small acts mean everything.
Emma took her first steps on Tuesday — a milestone we'll never forget! Sleep has been challenging with the 4-month regression hitting hard, but you're both handling it with grace.
The partnership moments stood out this week: coordinated night shifts, surprise coffee runs, and finding time to eat dinner together (even if it's at 9pm).
Keep capturing these moments — they're building something beautiful.
“What's a challenge you faced today?”
Cluster feeding all afternoon. She wanted to nurse every 45 minutes and I barely had time to eat or use the bathroom. Called my mom in tears. She reminded me this phase passes quickly. It helped to hear that.
“Share a video that captures today's mood”
Found this video that perfectly captures how I feel watching her discover the world. Every little thing is so fascinating to her — the way light hits the wall, the sound of the dog's collar jingling. Pure wonder.
“What new sound or expression did your baby make?”
She said "dada" today! Well, it was more like "da-da-da-da" but we're counting it. The way his face lit up when she looked right at him and said it — I wish I had captured that moment on video. Pure magic.
Middle of the night thought: I never knew love could be this consuming. She's sleeping on my chest and I can't stop staring at her tiny fingers wrapped around mine.
“What made you laugh today?”
Her reaction to trying avocado for the first time. The face she made! Pure disgust, like we'd betrayed her. Then two seconds later she wanted more. Babies are hilarious.
“How has becoming a parent changed you?”
I used to think I needed 8 hours of sleep to function. Now I run on 4 hours and the strongest coffee known to humanity. But I've also discovered a patience I didn't know I had, and a capacity for love that still surprises me daily.
“What's your current favorite song to sing to baby?”
Been playing this album on repeat during tummy time. The acoustic guitar seems to mesmerize her and she's started doing mini push-ups! Building those neck muscles.
“Describe a quiet moment from today”
4am feeding. House completely silent except for the soft sounds of her drinking. Moonlight coming through the nursery window. These moments feel sacred somehow — just the two of us in our little bubble.
Feeding milestones continue — Emma tried avocado (the face was unforgettable!) and is getting stronger during tummy time. Sleep regression seems to be easing slightly.
Both parents reflected on personal growth this week, noting the surprising reserves of patience and love that parenthood has unlocked.
The midnight moments you're capturing are pure gold. Keep it up!
“What's something you want to remember about this age?”
The way she grabs my face with both hands and just stares into my eyes. Like she's memorizing me. I hope she always looks at me with that much love and trust.
